Picture a special place, perfect for children…

  • In this place rooms and toys would be arranged to delight the eye, stimulate response, engage imagination, limit frustration and insure soft landings.
  • Loving, caring adults would be nearby, close enough to offer what’s needed yet far enough away to let independent thinking and self-direction take over.
  • In this special place, there would be plenty of choices for creative and active play. Children could shift gears according to their own natural curiosity. Individual talents and tactile tendencies would have their reign in a safe, nurturing environment.
  • In this environment, there would be other children to play with and to learn from. Their families would be welcomed, and the ideals of a shared community would begin.
  • If a child could organize his school world for himself, all he would need is the guidance and resources of the dedicated staff at Merrick Community.
