The tradition
of excellence in early childhood
education continues during July and August with our highly acclaimed
summer program.
During the
summer the focus of our activities
shifts outdoors. Children enjoy the in-ground filtered wading pool, and
our half-acre tree lined playground provides for cool fun filled play.
Merrick
Community Summer Camp is one of the few
summer programs geared exclusively for preschool children. Parent
participation is not required during the summer session.
Camp is
inspected twice yearly by the Nassau
County Department of Health. Permit on file at 106 Charles Lindbergh
Blvd, Uniondale, NY 11553.

WHAT MAKES
OUR CAMP UNIQUE?
- OUTDOOR
PLAYGROUND: Our
½ acre tree shaded spacious play area is truly a rare
find! A tree house complete with bridge, ramps, steps and a
fort
provides tremendous opportunities for fun filled play. Our
playground also offers a slide, swings, tricycles, sandbox, tunnel tire
swing, large hollow blocks, play houses, wagons, see saws and picnic
tables. Snacks and Lunch are served outdoors on most days at our picnic
tables.
- POOL:
Our in ground filtered
wading pool is just the right size for young children to become
comfortable in the water. Many children who are tentative at
the
beginning of camp are putting their face in the water by the end of the
summer. Each child is encouraged by an adult to proceed at
his/her own pace.
- WATER
PLAY: At our camp
it’s not just at pool time. Our campers play under
sprinklers, “wash” their bikes,
“paint” with
water and make rivers and moats in the sandbox. All these
combined with pool time make for fun filled cool summer day.
- WEEKLY
THEMES AND SPECIAL ACTIVITIES:
Popular themes included; July 4th Celebration, Bug Week, Fish Week,
create your own t-shirt, planting, cooking and baking.
- MUSIC
AND MOVEMENT:
Finger plays and songs are a part of each day. Creative
movement,
dancing, playing instruments and creative dramatics are also popular
and frequent activities.
IN
